20-day field conditioning courseFast Start Training

Our Fast Start course involves obedience training and field conditioning for your hunting dog. Assuming your dog has gone through our Bird and Gun Intro course, we can now pursue obedience training. The ideal age to start this training is 7 ½ to 8 months of age, but it can be done at any time. This program is 20 days of daily training (approximately 3 – 4 weeks).
With this program, we start off training with simple commands—sit, stay, come (or here). By the end of the training you will have a well behaved, under control dog that can handle various situations at home and in the field. We will be teaching on leash obedience, e-collar conditioning, and off leash obedience in distraction situations. We also teach some basic manners that are appreciated at home. Once obedience is solid, we will go out to the field and begin working on ranging and quartering, finally being able to put your dog in actual hunting situations with live chukar. This program consists of two one-on-one sessions with the trainer to give you the knowledge needed to maintain the training at home and while hunting.
Another benefit to having your dog trained at Wings and Whistles is we can do some board and train or hunts if your dog comes to stay with us for boarding. Because we know your dog and the training that we’ve done we can easily do a day or two of refreshing. If you chose to have some board and training done or hunts, the price for the training will only be on the days of training and the boarding rate on the rest. The option to do the board and train and hunts is always up to the trainer’s discretion.
Includes: Boarding, training, live birds, and hands on sessions with your dog and the trainer
